Publication Ethics and Malpractice Statement

Jurnal Nursing Arts is a peer-reviewed electronic national journal. This statement clarifies the ethical behavior of all parties involved in the act of publishing an article in this journal, including the author, the chief editor, the Editorial Board, the peer-reviewer­ and the publisher (Jurusan Keperawatan Poltekkes Kemenkes Sorong). This statement is based on COPE Best Practice Guidelines for Journal Editors.

Publication Ethics
Author Ethics

1) Reporting; authors must provide information about the process and results of their research and/or studies to the editors honestly, clearly, and comprehensively, and keep data on community service and their studies well and safely.

2) Originality and plagiarism; authors must ensure that the manuscript that has been sent or submitted to the editors is an original manuscript, written by the author, and is sourced from their own ideas and concepts, and not the result of plagiarizing the writings or ideas and/or concepts of others. Authors are strictly prohibited from changing the names of cited reference sources to other people's names.

3) Repeated submissions; authors must inform that the manuscript sent or submitted to the editors is a manuscript that has never been sent or submitted to other journal publishers or publications. If there is any "redundancy" in sending the manuscript to another publisher, the editors will reject the manuscript submitted by the author.

4) Author status; The author must inform the editor that the author has competence or qualifications in a particular field of expertise that is in accordance with the field of science published, namely nursing, midwifery, public health and medicine. The author must include an affiliation, namely the author's institution of origin. The author who sends the manuscript to the editor is the first author (co-author), so that if a problem is found in the manuscript publication process, it can be resolved immediately.

5) Errors in writing the manuscript; the author must immediately inform the editor if an error is found in writing the manuscript, either the results of the review or the results of the edit. These writing errors include writing names, affiliations or institutions, quotations, and other writing that can reduce the meaning and substance of the manuscript. If this happens, the author must immediately propose improvements to the manuscript.

6) Disclosure of conflicts of interest; the author must understand the ethics of scientific publication above to avoid any conflicts of interest with other parties, so that the manuscript can be processed smoothly and safely.

Editorial Ethics

1) Publication decision; the editor must ensure a thorough, transparent, objective, fair, and wise manuscript review process. This is the basis for the editor in making decisions on a manuscript, whether to reject or accept. In this case, the editorial board acts as a manuscript selection team.

2) Publication information; the editor must ensure that the manuscript writing guidelines for authors and other interested parties can be accessed and read clearly, both in print and electronic versions.

3) Distribution of peer-reviewed manuscripts; the editor must ensure reviewers and manuscript materials for review, and clearly inform the provisions and process of manuscript review to reviewers.

4) Objectivity and neutrality; the editor must be objective, neutral, and honest in editing manuscripts, without distinguishing between gender, business side, ethnicity, religion, race, inter-group, and citizenship of the author.

5) Confidentiality; the editor must maintain all information properly, especially that related to the privacy of the author and the distribution of his/her manuscript.

6) Disclosure of conflicts of interest; Editors must understand the ethics of scientific publication above to avoid conflicts of interest with other parties, so that the manuscript publication process runs smoothly and safely.

Reviewer Ethics

1) Objectivity and neutrality; reviewers must be honest, objective, unbiased, independent, and only side with scientific truth. The manuscript review process is carried out professionally without distinguishing between gender, business side, ethnicity, religion, race, inter-group, and citizenship of the author.

2) Clarity of reference sources; reviewers must ensure that the reference sources/citations of the manuscript are appropriate and credible (can be accounted for). If errors or deviations are found in writing reference sources/citations, the reviewer must immediately inform the editor for corrections by the author according to the reviewer's notes.

3) Effectiveness of peer-review; reviewers must respond to manuscripts that have been sent by the editor and work according to the manuscript review time (peer-review) that has been set (maximum 3 weeks). If additional time is needed in reviewing the manuscript, they must immediately report (confirm) to the editorial secretariat.

Journal Management Ethics

1) Decision making; journal managers or editorial boards must describe the mission and objectives of the organization, especially those related to the determination of journal publication policies and decisions without any particular interests.

2) Freedom; journal managers must provide freedom to reviewers and editors to create a comfortable working atmosphere and respect the privacy of authors.

3) Guarantee and promotion; journal managers must guarantee and protect intellectual property rights (copyright), and be transparent in managing funds received by third parties. In addition, journal managers must publish and promote the results of publications to the public by providing guarantees of benefits in the use of manuscripts.
