The Relationship Between Family Support and the Role of Posyandu Cadres with DPT-HB-HIB Immunization Status in Infants

Abstract

Immunization is a government priority program to prevent infectious diseases and reduce morbidity and mortality among children. However, the DPT-HB-Hib immunization coverage in Kemuning Lor Village has drastically decreased from 68.1% in 2022, 71.9% in 2023, to 35% in 2024. This study aims to analyze the relationship between family support and the role of posyandu cadres with the DPT-HB-Hib immunization status of babies aged 5 to <12 months. This quantitative study with a cross-sectional design was conducted from September 2024 to June 2025 in Kemuning Lor Village. The study population consisted of 82 mothers with babies aged 5 to <12 months, with a sample of 68 respondents selected using a simple random sampling technique. Data were collected using questionnaires and observation sheets/maternal and child health books for immunization status. Data analysis was carried out using the Chi-Square correlation test. The results showed that most respondents had unsupportive families (63.2%), rated the role of posyandu (integrated health post) cadres as adequate (41.2%), and had babies with incomplete DPT-HB-Hib immunization status (69.1%). The Chi-Square correlation test indicated a significant relationship between family support and immunization status (p<0.001). Conclusion: There is a significant relationship between family support and the role of posyandu cadres with the DPT-HB-Hib immunization status in babies. It is recommended that posyandu cadres strengthen their outreach and community mobilization efforts, especially for babies who have not received complete immunizations.
